A Mequon man is facing four felony charges, including homicide and hiding a corpse, related to the disappearance of a Kenosha man.
Zachariah Anderson, 40, was charged Dec. 11 in Kenosha County Circuit Court with felony counts of first-degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse and two counts of stalking.
Anderson’s ex-girlfriend, the mother of their three children, had been in a new relationship with Rosalio Gutierrez, who has been missing since May 17.
Anderson told investigators he was jealous of her relationship with Gutierrez.
According to a criminal complaint:
Gutierrez’s girlfriend said she had not heard from him since May 17. She went to his apartment May 19 where she saw the patio sliding door was ajar, blood was visible on the furniture and floor, furniture had been moved and an area rug was missing. She notified police, who conducted a welfare check at Gutierrez's apartment, where they spotted large amounts of blood and signs of a scuffle.

Police also saw Gutierrez’s vehicles parked in the building’s lot. In his apartment, they noted blood on the curtains, walls, ceiling, couch, carpet, an end table and other household items.
Based on the blood pattern, detectives think the struggle started at Gutierrez’s front door, the complaint said. Castoff patterns and blood samples showed Gutierrez was struck multiple times with an object.
Anderson’s ex-girlfriend told investigators she had been dating Gutierrez for a few months. She suspected Anderson of tracking her movements, which he later admitted to her.
She said Anderson gave their daughter a cellphone to record her. An app on the phone showed Anderson had purchased two tracker devices. She later found a cellphone hidden beneath a car seat in her vehicle.
But Anderson told investigators he didn't track her. However, he did cite a jealousy issue between them.

His ex-girlfriend said she was at Gutierrez's apartment May 13 when she thought Anderson was able to hear their conversations.
Anderson’s phone records placed him in Kenosha at 9:34 p.m. May 13. Audio messages reviewed by detectives showed audio directions toward Gutierrez’s apartment from Anderson’s Mequon address.
Evidence showed that Anderson purchased two GPS trackers with voice-activated recording features. Only one tracker was discovered in Anderson’s home, the complaint said.
Evidence from Anderson’s laptop revealed a folder titled “Rosalio Gutierrez Jr” with photos of Gutierrez, a map with his apartment circled and other information about him.
Traces of blood and clothes
Examining Anderson’s Dodge minivan, officers noticed bleach odor and stains. The vehicle’s rear seats had been removed and a large section of the rear floor’s carpet had been cut out, the complaint noted.
DNA taken from the minivan’s rear cargo area matched Gutierrez’s.
Officers noted a smoldering burn pit at Anderson’s residence on May 19, despite three days of heavy rain.
The following day, officers conducted a search at the burn pits with a cadaver dog. They found remnants of a bleach bottle and clothing that matched the brands of clothes Anderson wore when he was arrested.
More traces of clothing were found at a second burn pit at the Anderson tree farm property in Saukville.
Anderson’s ex-girlfriend and daughter told investigators the remnants of a shirt found in the burn pit belonged to Anderson.
Walmart surveillance cameras near the Saukville property showed Anderson’s purchase of three sardine cans, two packages of garbage bags, two boxes of latex gloves and two bleach wipes containers.
Two opened and uneaten cans of sardines were discovered under the front passenger seat of Anderson’s minivan.
Gutierrez still missing
Investigators believe Gutierrez was killed in his apartment between 9:06 and 9:37 p.m. May 17, based on cell tower data. Gutierrez was last heard from by a friend he texted at 8:27 p.m. that night.
His friend arrived at 9:37 p.m. and waited for about 40 minutes after Gutierrez did not answer the door or respond to calls and texts.
Anderson’s phone was turned off between 7:47 and 11:19 p.m., according to cellphone records reviewed by investigators.
On May 18, cellphone tower records place Anderson at Cedar Beach Road near Lake Michigan and Harrington State Park, just 10 minutes from the second burn pit in Saukville.
Anderson was convicted for possession of over 10 pounds of marijuana in Butte County, South Dakota, on April 16. He was scheduled to be sentenced May 27. Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Schroeder approved his extradition Oct. 21.
Also this year, on May 21, Anderson was charged in Wisconsin with two felony counts of stalking. He pleaded not guilty, and is scheduled to go to a jury trial in early 2021.
